Hey all,
I am writing from Nairobi. I would like any info from y'all out there who may be in a position to drop a few hints, on the LL.M. programs offered in Germany. I have found some seemingly superb ones, but since there is no ranking system per se for Deutsch LL.M.s, it is difficult to compare them to others of similar course content eg in SA.
I would appreciate any info on methodology of teaching, market appreciation for Deutsch LL.M.s, competitiveness of the courses, student-mix etc.
Thanx in advance, good people!

Hi Kay,
LLMs in Germany are a good try, but you must have a good proficiency of German language. The LLM is good in the market mostly when you have written their exams, called Stateexam, which is like an exam enabling you to practice there also, but there are two Stateexam, 1 and 2, and 2 is mostly for LLM students. In fact, it is a coincidence I read your ad today, when I just received my documents returned to me from one of the German LLMs to which I applied, reason being lack of German language proficiency, even though I had good qualifications and am presently doing research with an Institute which has good collaboration with the University. But I am not discouraging you, it will be a good try if you the language capacity, as they have some LLM courses for foreign law graduates.
I wish you success in your academics.

And, maybe I forgot to mention, there are still some LLM programs in English, but most are not state programs, which means are not tuition free, unlike most other masters programs. For instance, the LLM in Finance in Frankfurt. Check on that. But if you are still interested, I would be ready to help you identify some LLM programs that might be of interest to you here.
