Hey...I applied to the Development Studies program and I still haven't heard back from them. Did you log on to the web site to check your admissions status or did you receive a letter? Where are you from? If I am offered admission, I'd also receive a conditional offer as I will finish my degree in May...I'd love to go to the Institute as well...

Hello Dev86,
I am an italian law graduating student and I sent my application on January 29th, just some days before the deadline. I used to check my status on the web site and I saw during these weeks that my documents arrived, that they were evaluating them and finally last wednesday I discovered I got admitted. Then yesterday I got an envelope from the graduate institute with the admission letter and all the documents..I guess it arrived in short time because I live not so far from Geneva:-)
Now I have to complete my admission sending the fee to the University of Geneva, unfortunately I did not get any fellowship but they told me I can ask for it during my first year for my second year. And if I do not get my diploma in July the fee is refundable.
Good luck for your admission! I was also interested in Mdev but then I applied for MIS -international law.

Well Lionel, we might meet soon. I haven't yet made up my mind, but this is actually due to my general unability to make decisions ; )

Just out of curiosity: what made you go for the MIDS?

It has the best professors of the world, it is organized by two very well known institutes, it is a very complete program, and it is located in the center of the arbitration world.

Thanks! John Hopkins SAIS for International Relations, specializing in International Law.... I don't know how this compares to ADH Geneve or IHEID so I'm pretty confused. I wanted to apply to LSE for their LLM (human rights) but they are pretty filled up. Any ideas on these courses and how they compare?

Where are you planning to head to?

Yes! I was admitted but without scholarship... so I am wondering which school I should choose (I am also considering Georgetown and Cornell's LLm programs).

Hey guys,

From this post it seems quite apparent that some of you would have secured the Masters from MIDS. I have been offered admission there (applicant from India) and before I accept, I was wondering if you could be kind enough to answer some of my queries:

i. What is the system of aid? Now that I have received an admission offer, should I send them an email requesting for aid?Their website simply says to contact them on email regarding aid.

ii. While it is beyond doubt that the Program has exceptional faculty, does that really lead to anything concrete in terms of job opportunities upon completion of the Program? Do the professors offer jobs to the students of the Program?

iii. How reputed is the program? Is it well appreciated in Geneva? While I understand this would be difficult to gauge considering that only one batch of students is actually "in the market", what is the general review of the Program?

Are any job fairs/placements conducted? How easy is it to get a job in an international law firm situated in Geneva? What about internships in the WTO?

I have to convey my acceptance soon, so guys, please respond as soon as you can!
