Erasmus Mundus ILGSPD

Hello Everyone, I got an unconditional offer at this university the other day. I was wondering what the chances are after this to get scholarships and if you could share your experiences regarding this matter. I have work experience in public service and have participated in multiple national and international moot courts. Every bit of information will be appreciated!

Hello, congrats on your unconditional offer! Haven't found many discussions for ILGSPD 2023, I also recently received an offer and looking to have a better idea as to what the chances are of obtaining a scholarship.

Hi everyone! Also got an unconditional offer. Last year scholarships were announced on the 9th of April. There are a couple of convs in this page from last year’s cohort.

I think it would be better to contact them as I've heard from multiple people already that they have received an offer

Hey. I also got an unconditional offer some days ago. I applied in December. Regarding the profile of the candidates selected for scholarships so far, I know two people that have been awarded the scholarship and apparently they have no experience with moot courts. I've seen many people on this forum mentioning this specific type of experience, since it seems to be very popular among international law enthusiasts. In my case, I have no moot court experiences at all. Instead, I have research experience, some summer school attendances and other affiliations and professional experiences in the public and private sectors that relate directly or indirectly to international law. Besides, I am researching into international law through a MRes and so I have a research project that relates to the program. By the way, both the people that I mentioned also have one or more postgraduate courses in International Law, so I think they considered that.

From what I've seen from some awardees backgrounds and according to my perception of their selection, they're being holistic in their evaluation, considering even credentials that are not directly related to IL. However, the people that I know to have been awarded with the scholarship, all of them have postgraduate courses in IL, including a MA and a LLM, and several courses/work experience. I think the pathway indicated and the reasons for the choice might influence considerably in their decision for the scholarship too. The more specific, the better. I think that the Brussels and Radboud pathways, which are more generalist and traditional, are going to be the most chosen, so people that have chosen these are going to have more competition.

It appears that rejection letters have also started to be sent out... I wonder how many of us have received offers as it seems that there are a lot less discussions on forums regarding ILGSPD compared to the past two years. Would you guys be interested in starting a whatsapp group to stay updated?

Hi again all. I have an urgent problem. I have just been rejected and the Admissions Office told me that it's because I failed to upload two reference letters as required. The thing is, I know this is a technical problem because I had been having issues with uploading references for a while before finally succeeding after creating a new application from scratch. I even emailed the Program Administrator to inform her about what was going on and notify her that my application was finally completed with both reference letters included last year. I checked my application portal this morning and came to realize that my second reference was gone. It just completely vanished. I was never notified of the missing document and my application status never changed after all these months. I have sent the Admissions Office and Program Admin an email, now waiting for a response. Is anyone else having a similar problem? I can't believe I have just been disqualified because of a technical error that I had no control over.

I'm sorry to hear this. After all, only one was sent? In my case, I uploaded "three" references, because after reading the instructions on the official page of the programme, I saw that they asked us to upload the second reference as an additional document. Maybe that was the case?

I have requested a review of the decision and attached the second "missing" reference, and they came back with the same decision, i.e. that my application was missing two (not one) official references. I don't understand. I reread the application guide and it says references must be on a letterheaded paper and be signed to be official. Both my letters fulfill these requirements - one is academic while the other is from my most recent employer. Can anyone enlighten me on what exactly an acceptable "official" letter should look like? I've used these same ones for other programs and didn't encounter an issue until now.

This sounds odd, indeed. The only difficulty I faced when trying to upload my references was that in the beginning I had named each reference with a professor's full name and the system wouldn't accept them. After editing the name of the documents to "reference 1" and "reference 2" it let me upload with no problem. As for the format, both my letters were academic and displayed the coat of arms of my Faculty/Uni and Research Institution on the letterhead.

I also created a group for updates until April for those who've received an offer. https://chat.whatsapp.com/D5AIkOMmWyZ0PLJle4shnV
