I am ukrainian, but doing my studies in Germany. I applied for IDS in Natolin, but my French isn't great either. I am working on it :-) So don't be discouraged, I am sure they will contact you also, if not today, than next week.

Good luck!

Hello guuuys!
I have just received a letter informing me that I will have an interview on 25 may!! OMG!!! I am very nervous, cause I am absolutely unprepared.
I have sent my application without any hope, just like that.
So little time for preparation, don't know what to do!
Congrats to all who were preselected! =) Good luck!

Yes, please! I have an interview this Friday as well. And they mentioned in the email that the interview will include questions about my educational background, European knowledge, motivation... etc. I'm a bit nervous about the European knowledge part. Does anyone know what kinda questions regarding this topic they tend to ask? I'm from Africa, so my European knowledge is quite limited. Many thanks in advance!

I figure that the questions will be about European history and its institutions. You can find easily this information on the web, for instance on the site europa.eu.
Good luck to everyone!

Thank you very much. This is very helpful. I've been stuck for hours reading about basically every country in Europe, their location and what languages they speak. So I should basically stick to treaties, wars and stuff like that, right?

Exactly the same, they also asked me about the lisbon treaty and foreign policy and I didn't expect the questions to be so specific. Same as you, I think I answered really badly and wasn't specific enough in terms of them asking me what I wanted to do in the future! Ahhhh well its over now, so we'll see what happens. Good to know I'm not the only one who feels they could have done better. All we can do now is relax anyway I suppose so breathe....haha

Do they ask questions about these topics to every course? Or just the people applying for Law and Political ones?

I apologize if this is a stupid question.

I'm not sure if you guys will have the same interview process but after mine in the UK I would advise not worrying too much about history, just know more about what drives you to go to the college of europe and also quite a detailed knowledge of career paths you would consider. Also, knowing about the Lisbon treaty is always good.

Thank you very much, this is very helpful. Did they ask you too much in French? I'm quite worried about that part since I do not use French in daily life too often.

Hey hey, I will tell you my experience during the interview so you can be more calmed.

First, Im mexican so I had a phone interview last moth. I prepared myself very hard and I wrote the possible questions and answers in english and french.

I wrote questions about my academic backround, motivation, and european knowledge. Regarding academic knowledge try to be updated in daily european stuff. Depending on the type of programme you`ve chosen they will focus their topics.

My phone interview lasted 6 minutes and I was quite suprised that happened so fast. They asked me in which language I wanted to speak first and I said french because it was harder hehe. they asked me to give them a brief review of my academic background and why I wanted to study at CoE. Then they asked me if I knew something regarding to immigration problems in the EU (I did my thesis about migration policy), who recommended me CoE and if I had any questions....
Only the last question was in english.

Read newspapers and webpages like agence europe that have all the daily european stuff.

Be calmed and you will succeed!

Yeah that's good advice, just be calm and you can sell yourself easily. I only had one question in french actually, but I didn't really know how to answer it so I just babbled about citizenship. (they asked what I thought were the main changes Lisbon had on foreign policy... yeah I know citizenship was maastricht. Shows that they are looking for more than just booksmarts).

I'm too nervous about the French part. I hope they won't ask me too much in French. How is your French, btw? Like how would you rate it?

This is insanely helpful. Thank you so much. Good luck, dear.
