Hi,
Just wanted to get the ball rolling.
Who here has applied to McGill's LLM program?
For which program did you apply? Thesis or non thesis?
Feel free to share (offers, etc.)
I've applied to McGill's general LLM, Thesis option program. I just received my offer of admission which I intend to accept.
Best of luck to everyone!
Cheers!

Congrats KG! I got refused last week :( If you don't mind sharing, what were your stats? Just curious to see where I can improve my application since McGill wasn't responsive. Many thanks!

Hi llkrishll ,
I'm sorry to learn of your negative response from McGill. Don't let it discourage you and looking to improve definitely attests to having the right attitude for future/ other applications.
My stats= 3.53 GPA ...however, I think the rest of my curriculum is what weighed in my favour:
I have been working for the same employer for just over 10 years, doing full time law while working 30 hours in written communications and while caring for two young children. I've participated in plenty of extracurriculars (2 directorships on board of directors, student paper contributor, legal clinic advisor, mentoring to L1s and I'm a teacher's research assistant)= of course, not all during the same semester! :) I've been an officer in the air force as well.
Basically, 5th-10th percentile in terms of grades, give or take, but with baggage, so, overall, a balanced application I guess.
Best of luck to you for future or pending applications.
Cheers

Hello!
Congrats for your offer kagi!
I am an international student and I applied to the LLM with Thesis, specialising in Bioethics,
I am still waiting for a response, as an international student, I think it comes later in March.
Are you specialising in a particular domain?
llkrishll, I am sorry to hear about your rejection, may I ask what your stats are?
Thank you!

Hello!
Sorry for the late reply. I haven't consulted this site recently.
Thank you for your kind words.
I wish you best of luck in your application process.
I am admitted to the general LLM thesis option, so, concretely, I'm not specializing, until I circumscribe my thesis (which should treat on the dissent regarding national security legislations, public administration and policy)... or something of the sort. ;)
Again, best of luck, looking forward to perhaps meeting.
Kathryn

Hi Nzouein,
I apologize for the tardy response. I have a LLB from UK, so I don't have a definite GPA, but a first-class would be around 3.70. As a recent graduate, I don't have any legal experience (other than working in a legal clinic, being part of moots/negotiation, pupillages, etc). However, I have about 3 years of work experience in a pre-clinical laboratory and a year of teaching science at a private school. I have strong non-legal ECs and my first undergrad (BSc) was from McGill. Unfortunately, McGill hasn't given me any feedback, but seeing Kagi's resume, mine was far from impressive. So maybe in a few years time, I'd be able to do atleast a small portion of what Kagi did and reapply. Good luck on your application process, I hope you hear wonderful news from McGill :D
Best Wishes,
llkrishll

Hi Ilkrishll!
Waw! Trust me, your resume is very impressive too!
I am actually graduating with an LLB and a Maitrise from the UK in July! I don't have work experience as well but did a lot of internships. I don't think I have a big chance after seeing all the posts but I'm still hopeful! haha
Thank you very much for your response and I wish you all the best in the future :D

Hi!
I haven't heard back from McGill yet (my application still says "Submitted"). At this point, should I assume I didn't get in? Or that I'm on the Waiting List?
I called McGill and they told me they make offer up to May, but considering I have friends who had until April 1st to give Mcgill an answer, I would like to know what are my chances.
Thanks!

Hi,
Considering the latest comments I would like to share my experience so we can help each other out.
My applications, Comparative and Environmental, are respectively labelled as In review and Submitted.
I got an email about a week ago saying that my application (Comparative) was positively review and I will probably get an offer from the Faculty soon.
How long would I need to wait for the formal offer?
As for the latest poster, do not lose faith, I am sure you will hear from them either way soon!
Cheers

Hi,
I'm in the same situation, my application for Bioethics is in Review. I got the email three weeks ago and I still didn't hear anything. I think they contact us back within 6 weeks of the email.
As for the submitted applications, I'm not sure but they kept telling me, they would answer before May, especially for International Students.
I hope you all the best of luck!

Congratulations to both of you for your acceptance! And thank you for having shared your experience. I'm sure the formal offer is coming soon :)
On my hand, I just received my offer of admission! I'm quite pleased, but I was surprised they changed my application from thesis option to non-thesis option.
I still think I will accept the offer, but does anyone has heard of a similar situation before? Maybe my research proposal was not detailed enough or the subject not what they were looking for?
Cheers

Thank you llkrishll !
I have a civil law LLB (GPA 3,50) and Im doing my JD in common law (GPA 3,40). During school, I worked part-time in accounting and market analysis. As for my legal experience, I have an internship in a major law firm, I was research assistant for a teacher and I did some extracurriculars (legal clinic advisor, editor of a law journal, mentoring).
