Hi everybody! Has anyone heard form McGill? I applied since early November and my Minerva status states Ready for Review, or something like that!

Hello there) Basically, I see no cause for uneasiness. Judging from previous years' posts, the status is supposed to be like that up until they notify applicants of their final decision)) How long is it going to take? Who knows... but chances are they will communicate most of decisions in March (late February).
On a personal note, I applied to McGill pretty late and Minerva acknowledged my application as 'complete' on January 17. Thus, I don't expect news any time soon)
Btw, what program did you apply to?

Thanks for your insight! :)
I applied to the LLM-Non thesis, and if I get in I intend to take the courses related to Human Rights and Cultural Diversity. What about you? Did you apply to other programs?

Wow, that's great! For - unlike many on this board - I take a keen interest in public law too) And it is Constitutional law that I like the most. At McGill, I applied to the Institute of Comparative Law, thesis stream.
Speaking about Canadian schools, I've applied to the University of British Columbia. Well, it enjoys a pretty good reputation.
Actually, I've also applied to the U.S., but Canadian programs likewise look really good. The only thing that makes me less enthusiastic about them... well, to the best of my reckoning they are oriented at Canadian students. I mean whereas U.S. LL.M. programs almost entirely designed for foreign lawyers, Canadian law schools are eager to admit preferably Canadian graduate students. Yet I may be wrong))

To Arishka: hi, I am french and I applied lately for a non thesis LLM. As you, I am waiting for an answer since my status is still on "ready for review". How do you know that answers should come on march? Are you sure they are sent in the same order they receive applications?
To everybody who applied this year : where are you from? what do you want to do after graduating at McGill?

Dear Galpi0032: Candidly speaking, I don't know anything for sure)) The abovementioned information is gleaned from this as well as few others board and then just pieced together. Like a puzzle.
Regarding the Minerva status, students of the previous years intakes reported it to be Ready for review up until the official decisions. I believe that this year is not an exception)) Moreover, many said that they had gotten an offer in March.
Anyway, I hope that some one possesses more accurate data. So all info is highly welcomed)

...any news so far?
Posted Mar 05, 2012 07:04
No news! I have been admitted to the UofT and I would like to know if I am going to Toronto or Montréal the next year! I called McGill's administration the last week and they answered me my file was at the committee, but nothing else. I saw that years before, they sometimes recommend someone in April! It is really annoying regarding the immigration process! So good luck to everybody, when I have news, I will post it!

@Galpi0032: thank you for keeping us posted!) I hold with you that the decision-making in Canadian schools is extremly slow. I was wondering about asking for an expedited decision - since I have offers from other schools as well - but after your experience with calling McGill I'm not sure whether it makes sense at all. Anyway, it's reassuring to know that I'm not alone waiting here.
Good luck to all!

Hi! So Tuesday morning I received an e-mail in which the Admissions Committee informed me that I have been recommended to the University. It seems that once you've been recommended it is likely that youll be formally admitted... of course, eventually!!
I think that this means that e-mails with recommendations are starting to be sent! Good luck!

Hi!
Congratulations to you vbtz!! I was wondering if the order of recommendations is related to the date you completed your application... I hope it is not because I applied lately, like Arishka. I hope I won't receive the answer in may!
Enjoy the good news and thanks for your post!

vbtz: Congratulations!
Well, so there's some progress in the case:)
Btw, would you mind telling where you are from?

I also received an email from McGill today informing me that I've been recommended by department. I know it's not official yet but I'm so excited!
Btw, I applied to the LLM non thesis in the IASL and my application was complete in early December.

Well done, adhoc. Congrats!
Hope, the ICL has begun sending out decisions as well.

To Arishka and the others who are waiting for their answer : I phoned McGill a few days ago (I know, I can't stop calling theme, I am so anxious) and they said the Committee wants to give all recommendations by the months. So it appears we wouldn't have to wait more than 2 weeks until we receive an email of recommendation (or a change of status for "refused" on Minerva!). They are reviewing the applications in the order they have been completed, that is why we are still waiting for answers! I really hope I will get this email.
Good luck to those who are still waiting as I am.
P.S.: Arishka, when you say your application was completed lately, what do you mean (all my documents were received on the 10th of january, except for the TOEFL official results, which were received on the 27th of January)?

@Galpi0032: As my English teacher always puts it, 'You are the man!') Thank you so much for posting here: that's truly great that all news are expected by the end of the month. For it also means that I will not face the situation that I'm forced to pay the deposit for one school being ignorant of my chances with another.
Well, it seems that 'waiting for Godot' is almost over.
Galpi0032, best of luck to you and all people here!
P.S. By 'lately' I mean that McGill received my documents on January 17.

Thank you all for the guide. I checked my Minerva portal and saw in the checklists that they are yet to receive a statement of my academic programme in Law. They have already received my University transcript. Please who knows what that could mean?

Arishka, I am sorry I did not answer earlier. I am from Mexico City!
I hope everyone gets an e-mail soon. Certainly it is reassuring, even though the final decission is pending! I am kind of impatient regarding that matter, because I have to accept/decline other Universities, and I have a deadline. Also I have a deadline for a scholarship I am applying to.
Does anyone know the chances of being formally admitted once you got a recommendation?
:)

I've been wondering that myself, too. According to the law admissions FAQ published on McGills webpage, typically, the University supports the Faculty's recommendations.
Either way, any kind of decision would be much welcome at this point, considering that most of us have applied to other LLM programs as well.

My Minerva status changed to admitted last week. No official acceptance letter yet, though. Does anyone know if they are sent by regular mail or email and how long does it take before they send them out?
Have the rest of you gotten your decisions by now?
