South African LLB- New York bar

Hollyn

Hi all

I have a LLB from the university of Cape Town and am looking to qualify for the NY Bar. I’ve read a couple posts and it seems I’d be able to with my degree but wondering if anyone here’s done it/had an experience applying etc? Just want to be sure and would love some advice on the process/timelines people experienced for passing

Thanks!

i did that years ago, but my degree was from England.

The only way to get a positive answer on this is to send in your documents to the NY BOLE. which is free anyway but takes 6-12 months. The reviews about the new clerk running that office/department are not good. Some Indian applicants have had trouble with BCom/LLB degrees.

No way to know without looking at your transcripts. Feel free to reach out in DMs.
