NY Bar Exam with SA LLB and UK LLM

Dan.yeah

Hi everyone

I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask but I’m struggling to find clarity elsewhere. I hold an LLB from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa, and by the time I’d like to write the New York Bar exam, I’ll (hopefully) have an LLM from LSE in the UK. Does anyone know whether this would be sufficient for me to write the Bar exam, or whether I’d still need to complete an LLM in the USA? South Africa’s specific legal system means I’m not sure whether it qualifies sufficiently as being “based on the English common law” for the purposes of the Bar requirements.

Alternatively, who could I speak to about this? I’m not sure who to ask for guidance on the matter.

Thank you!
