LLM from UK (external degree)

bushie

Hi..I have done my LLM in International Business Law from University of London (external programme). My husband is moving to Australia and i would like to know what are the prospects of someone like me to get a job in a law firm in Australia...if not as a practising lawyer - maybe in some other position. Or is there a conversion exam that I will have to undertake? Can I take it online? TIA

I don't think you can "convert" your LLM.

In terms of qualifications to practice law, this is governed by state governments. For instance:

https://www.lpbwa.org.au/Becoming-A-Lawyer/Overseas-Admitted-and-Qualified

I guess it would depend on whether they recognize your LLM (and/or undergraduate degree in law) as valid.
