Graduate Diploma in Law

Looking for a bit of guidance as to how useful a Graduate Diploma in Law might be for someone with a background in social sciences, and the entry requirements.

Basically I'm a non-law graduate (BA in Politics and BA in Security & Counter-Terrorism) looking at doing a graduate diploma in law, most likely international or human rights. Is this a good move? Are the entry requirements strict? can i apply directly to an LLM program?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, cheers.

most universities would restrict entry into a Graduate Diploma in Law to LLB/JD graduates because it articulates into a LLM program (which is strictly available to only law graduates).

There are, however, universities which have postgraduate/masters programs for non-law graduates. If you let me know which State you are looking at, I would be in a better position to make recommendations.

As for usefulness, my recommendation would be for you to take a JD/LLB(Graduate) rather than a graduate program for non-law graduates.

Cheers,
G

Thanks for the reply, I'm in Victoria, and have looked at a few grad diploma programs in melbourne most of which say they accept non-law graduates. I'm 22 have a real interest in law and am quite sure i want to move in that direction, I'm just not sure i want to devote another 3-4 years at uni to practice. I'm also unsure of the entry requirements, I have a distinction average in both of my undergrad degrees but non prior legal work experience, will this be a problem?
