@gowrinair
The course fees comes upto 14 lakhs and including the accommodation, travel and other expenses, I think it's safe to assume that 20L is the 'minimum' amount an Indian student needs to spend.
It's good to know that there is a possibility of securing a job post LLM. Could you pls let us know if ur friend got the job through university placement or regular job search or via a personal reference?
I'm asking coz as far as I've heard till now, ppl have said that finding employment there is tough, even for experienced candidates. :-)

@hny_flying Now I am a little confused about the course fee. The course fee prescribed in my offer letter shows "S$17,600 per annum". That converts to INR 8,44,036 (approx 9L) as per the rate today. That plus living expense (Shanghai is cheaper than Sinagpore is what I got to know) and travel may come up to 15L is what I heard. That is why I said 20L may be not be an accurate estimate.
These except the course fee are all just estimates I got from students who are currently there. A certain margin of error is to be expected. :)
What you heard is similar to what I heard. Across specialties, it is extremely difficult to score a job in Singapore. But I know two people who have, So its not impossible. That's why I said you need real hard work, networking and a stroke of luck. :)

Oh you're in the IBL program. My apologies then, coz I'm in the general LLM, so I will be paying more :-(
You rightly said it takes a bit of luck and a lot of networking. I guess the same is true for India as well, considering the job situation presently :-) The worst part is that these foreign LLMs don't translate to big salaries back in India, unlike the MBA's, for e.g.

I just asked one of the people who scored a job in Singapore after IBL. He said "I applied in like a 1000 firms and then interned in one and then got the offer". :D
Hope this puts everything in perspective. :)

Job scene is extremely difficult everywhere now. No one wants to pay anyone anymore. What is this world coming to? :(
However, I would still say India is better than Singapore with respect to scoring a job. :)

Hi all,
I'm from CFL 13-14, just trying to clear up some things that some of you might be wondering about now.
As per job offers, let's just say that in general the employment scene in Singapore (or anywhere else, for that matter. Thanks, world economy!) right now is not that great at the moment. But that doesn't mean it's impossible to find out. As pointed earlier somewhere in this thread, most people start off with an internship before they get employed. And really, it's easier to find an internship rather than a permanent job straight away. And even if you don't plan to work here, a degree from NUS will definitely help you a lot. We are, after all, the current no. 1 University in Asia :D
As for housing, I would definitely recommend applying to College Green. Location-wise, Evans is also good but the facilities aren't that great. Same goes to Singapore International Campus. I'm not sure how you guys fare this year but nobody in my batch got through to the campus hostels in Kent Ridge (U-Town, Prince George, etc) except for the married ones bringing their family in. But you can always try, right? commuting will take about 20-30 mins from Kent Ridge to Bukit Timah, but you can take the free shuttle, public bus, even the MRT :)
Just curious, is there anyone from Indonesia or other Civil law countries taking up the course this year? I have a textbook that will be used in a conditioning course in the first semester that I wanna pass on to. Please send me a message if you're from a civil law country :)
Hope this helps, guys. Please nudge me if there is anything else you're interested in knowing about.

@winaindiarto
Thank you so much for all the information, it was really useful. :)
I've taken up ICL, and I wanted to know if you are in touch with anyone who's done a specialization in ICL from your batch. We are supposed to start with our course selection in July, and I have loads of questions about it!

@winaindiarto Thanks so much for taking out the time to help us out! Was hoping if you could share with us some tips/suggestions on things to do during our course there, like a research assistant-ship, participating in activities, getting cracking on applying for internships or anything of the sort that we should keep in mind when we get there and apply for!
Thanks a ton :)

Thanks @winaindiarto!!
Also, aarsh, I have opted for ICL too. And i agree with you in relation to the need for more details of course modules.
Can anyone throw more light on loan facilities available in the banks in Singapore? the viability and procedure???
Thanks in advance.
