NUS Housing-2007

Hi, I'm Dinda from Indonesia and just got accepted in NUS. I heard that the accomodation in Gilman Heights is temporarily unavailable due to its being renovated. The only option is evan lodge, but I'd prefer to look for a place off campus. So, can anyone inform me a great place to stay which located near by the campus? Coz I'm not really familiar with the Bukit Timah area. The affordable one would be nice :) I dont mind to share a flat with any other new NUS student

Hi Renuka, congratulations! My friends inform me to find a place on the website http://www.easyroommate.com . I myself find some interesting place there, but havent made final decision yet...since im not really familiar with the location. So perhaps I'll be arriving in S'pore 2 weeks before the school starts and looking for the place myself...Do you think its enough time? Have you found a room? gud luck!

Hi dindafelia, i would be arrving around the same time as you - i have a friend there. I think it would be better if we were to arrive abt say fifteen-twenty days b4 start-of-term (which is aug 6th for me). Im really in confusion if i should pick a hostel or take a sub-let room. But i wanna stay close to the col (atleast for the initial months) for i dun fancy travellin for long right from day one. Hmm well my friends tell me id be better off anywhere except evans lodge. Theres one www.katonghostel.com check it out....if ur gonna take a sublet room, count me in (we could search together actually) :) Keep me posted. Good luck!

Hi Marta,

Congrats! As for evans lodge - the law school recommends staying there. It is close to the campus and that's a great advantage for ppl who do not want to travel or be bothered by domestic hassles. However, the living conditions are jus very very normal, from what ppl have told me. But staying there for the first coupla months and then moving out would be the smartest way out...

Hi guys,

I'm from Sri Lanka and have been selected for the LLM in IP & T programme. Was thinkin of arriving in Singapore about 3-4 days before the beginning of the semester, but from what you guys have said it looks as if i'll have to get myself there before that.

Spoke to a couple of schoolmates of mine who've studied at NUS and who are currently working in Singapore. They all said that single room accommodation on sub-let appartments could be found, but may not be near the law school. Prices may be higher on rooms near the school and also on the facilities provided.

Did anybody check out the sources provided by the NUS OSA? Looking at it, it seems that there's a lot of reasonable accommodation available, but wonder how far they are to the Law school!!!
