HKU part time LLM

Hi,

I got the offer from HKU LLM as a part time student.
However, the class schedule shows that most of the classes start from 6 or 6:30 on weekdays.

Do we have to take courses together with full time students without any class offered on weekend?

Thanks.

Hi I also applied for part time, but I have not heard anything from HKU yet. if the classes really start 6 or 6:30 on weekdays, I might switch back to full time.
Do you mind if you could tell me what stream you got offered from? And when do you know you got offered? Did you receive a mail with an email?
My case is a bit complicated I guess so It takes longer for them to decide as I applied for 'General', anyway let me wait and see. And thanks for sharing the information, keep us updated if you hear anything new. Cheers!

Oh..actually I havent got the official admission letter from HKU. I sent email to ask for the status of my application and they told me that i am in the waiting list but should expect an offer later.

I applied for corporate and finance law.

BTW, do you know where I could get information about the LLM program? Anything like carrer prospect, student background will be good.

There was a heated debate in a post called 'LLM in Hong Kong', not sure how informative or accurate, but sure it is interesting to check it out... For official information about the LLM, I would say only look at HKU law school website.

It depends on whether you want to practise. An LLM will not normally qualify you for the bar. If you want to practise law, go for LLB/JD. If you just want the knowledge for other reasons (advance your present non-legal career etc), do the LLM.

Hello,

I just got an offer from Part-time LLM (CFL) of HKU. I'm considering the workload of the PT programme and how useful it is to my future career. I am a CPA since 2010 and is now looking for some breakthrough in my career instead of working as a boring accountant in commercial firm. Is this LLM (CFL) beneficial to me? Grateful if anyone can share their view! Thanks~~~

Hi Phoebe,

this is Peter, and I'll be doing LLM CFL at HKU starting this September as well. but i'll be studying full time. i dunno anyone else doing this course, so i guess ur the first one =) i'm also a CPA, admitted this year. i'm currently working in big 4, been there for nearly 4 years. i'm pretty sure it'll be beneficial to our career, coz i think being CPA, with this LLM, fields like due diligence, M&A and compliance will be more opened up for us. it's a v.gd combination in terms of qualifications i do think.

Hi guys!
Can you share your past experience at HKU ?
Im applying this year and would love to hear from former students of HKU LLM CFL !
Where you PT or FT ? How many hours of class / week ? the workload ? Is it ok to find an internship even in FT ?
Many thanks.
