Final/Official Offers?

Are other people still waiting for OFFICIAL FINAL offers from the faculty of graduate studies (or equivalent)? (ie has the faculty of law admitted you and told you that you have been recommended to the faculty of graduate studies (or equivalent) but you are still waiting for the official offer?

You're not alone...I'm still waiting on a final official letter from McGill. Got an email May 8, mail confirmation last Friday, and still waiting on the official letter in hand....

They sure are taking their sweet time over there...

Well, on the bright side, I suppose no news is good news, right? I'd like to think we've got maybe two more weeks to hold out...or so I hope anyway...

Latest update...I checked on Minerva and it said "Recommended by Department" which I figure is a step up from "Ready for Review" and then the Help section said that "Recommended by Department" means that I should hear back "shortly"...however long "shortly" is...

Guess it's another 2 weeks...?

Well, the wait is finally over! I decided to check on Minerva for the hell of it this evening and found out I was admitted. Put down the seat deposit about 10 minutes afterwards...so next stop - Montreal! See you guys in the fall.

Haha yeah I even took time to fill out their "applicant's survey" but resisted my temptation to answer the question "anything we could improve on in the admission process?" with "how about just sending us just one letter instead of having fun with us by sending one hopeful one with a caveat attached to it..."

But why start off on the wrong foot - who gives a damn, we're in!

So who else is coming and from where?

Hang in there, I'm sure the good news is only a day or two away. I was "recommended by department" I think last weekend, and then on Tuesday it said "Admitted."

Tom Petty said it best..."the waiting is the hardest part..."

Congratulations! It's a great feeling.

I actually met with Prof. Premont on Tuesday. Got a preview of the class because I met some of the students during our registration session. Seems like a friendly group. Try not to miss too many days - the PGSS (grad students' society) has lots of orientation stuff lined up. Should be a great start to the year.
