The University
Faculty of Law, Grotius building
Strategically located in Europe, Radboud University is one of the leading academic communities in the Netherlands. It is a place with a personal touch, where top-flight education and research take place on a beautiful green campus, in modern buildings with state-of-the-art facilities.
The strength of the University lies in its personal and social approach. Students are not a number at Radboud University and professors and lecturers are open for questions and discussions. The campus is a close-knit community where academics from different faculties often work together in cross-disciplinary teams. All students receive individual guidance from researchers and their studies are directly integrated with the work done at the University's 17 research institutes. This offers unique opportunities to undergraduates, graduates, postgraduates and doctoral candidates alike.
All faculties are located at one campus, so it makes traveling easy. The campus also hosts several libraries, a food court, canteens, a pub, a supermarket and the biggest campus' sports center of the Netherlands. Students can practice unlimited sports for only 15 EUR per month.
The Law School
The Faculty of Law at Radboud University has a truly international orientation and is part of a large network that includes more than sixty universities in Europe, the United States, Asia and Australia. All staff and students speak English. About twenty years ago, the Faculty of Law was the first in the Netherlands to start a European Law programme. During the past decades the Faculty has built an international reputation in the field of European (competition) law, immigration law and private law.
The International and European Law programme is entirely taught in English. A student of this LL.M programme benefits from the extensive experience and expertise of our academic staff. The approach to teaching is small-scale, personal, and interactive. Master's students have close contact with both lecturers and fellow students, as classes are deliberately kept small. Students from all over the world study the LL.M International and European Law. Also, the Faculty of Law at Radboud University is rated number one in the Netherlands for student satisfaction.
The Faculty
The new Grotius building (Photographer: Henk Braam)
Traditionally amongst the smaller in The Netherlands, the Faculty of Law has a long standing reputation for quality; in research, in teaching, and in organisation.
Especially for foreign students this offers the possibility of easy contacts with teachers and other students. Nijmegen University has taken advantage of those benefits in organising programmes both at undergraduate and postgraduate level over the years. The Erasmus programme has hosted hundreds of undergraduate students over the last years.
The Faculty of Law is situated in a new building: The Grotius building. This building offers a varied and modern study and resource center with a significant number of work group rooms and meeting places, spaces for relaxation such as an espresso bar and a restaurant, two smaller lecture rooms and a large 480-seat lecture hall. Furthermore, the Grotius building has two moot courtrooms, a teaching space with video conferencing and the Netherlands' largest Law Library. The Law Library occupies three floors, including study spaces, PC workstations and lounge areas where collaborative work and meetings can be conducted.
