It´s a very difficult choice, but I would choose virginia over michigan based solely on the weather. Sorry for not having any academic comments about michigan since I haven´t researched about this university, the only thing I know is that Ann- arbor is a very cold place, and I´m from Venezuela where the weather is great the whole year. Once I stayed 4 months in Boston during the winter and the 4 pm nightfall was making me crazy, plus the cold was unbearable. I know this would affect my studies, so no snow for me.

It's a tough call, because both are great schools, and both have pretty similar reputation and ranking. Here are my ideas: Virginia is better in constitutional law and constitutional history, and Charlottesville would be probably be nicer place to live (at least in terms of weather). Michigan is better in comparative law (there are, for instance, many German-Americans on the faculty if you are interested in comparing those two) and in European legal history. I think Virginia is considered to be rather "conservative" while Michigan seems to be "liberal", if this kind of considerations have any relevance to you. My hunch is also that Michigan is better-known school outside the US. What I think you should do is to look closely on faculty profiles of each school. See who are doing that kind of stuff you're interested in.

Thanks your posts guys. I shall take a decision this week and I hope that such decision be the best for me.

Did you have already taken a decision to pursue your graduate studies?

I´m almost sure of going to Duke this August since I have a few colleagues that tell me how great their experience was over there. The one thing they first told me I´ve now been able to experience myself. They told me that being a pretty smal law school, the faculty and administrative staff give you all the attention you need and more, and help you throughout the whole year. Since I´ve been notified of my acceptance, the assistant director and the other international staff have been so great that I can already talk about their kindness. The only thing that could make me go in a different direction would be Virginia´s admission, but I still haven´t been notified of anything yet, just the file complete notification. But I tell you, Duke has been wonderful with me and I haven´t started my studies yet. Why Duke? small law school, relatively small LL.M. program, great constitutional law proffessor (Chemerinsky), international taxation (Zelenak), Constitutional Law Review, amazing campus, great quality of leaving, affordable, great weather throughout the whole year, no restrictions on the courses that you can take, closer to home than other great universities. In other words, personal interests.

Hi, prl24. When did you receive their admission? I am still waiting for their information. Do they send paper notice directly or send e-mail notice first?
