Why are few people interested in Virginia? Is it only because of location that is far from some downtowns? How about Virginia when compared to Berkeley, Cornell, or Georgetown? Actually, I know that it is positioned in higher rank than those law schools according to US NEWS.

Dear kingkongkung,
I did apply to Virginia last month, and I know there are many applicants applying to Virginia around me. One of my colleagues got LL.M. degree from Virginia, and he told me Charlottesville was safe and good place to live. Compared to Berkeley, Cornell and Georgetown, I think Virginia is better, although this might depends on what they want to study at US law school.
If you have any updates regarding application process, please post here!

Thank you for your comment. I am just curious why it is hard to find information about Virginia on this board. I am still considering applying Virginia. I've heard that the decision will be under a rolling basis. Is that right?

Yes. Their official E-mail message says "Completed applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis." I hope this information will be of help to you.

Dear all,
For those who wonder why so few apply to University of Virginia (UVA). Well, the answers are simple and as follows:
1. It lacks diversity. Forget about international students, it does not have enough black students or other ethnic minorities. ( Don't forget it is in South).
2. It is a sucker when it comes to scholarship. Which is strange since it has a huge corpus and is generous for sports scholarship.
3. It has very few Professors who know the many dilemmas that international students face. Also they do not have the open door policy.
4. The Graduate Studies Office knows only one answer to any question, namely - " We / I don't know". They do not offer any services to international students.
5. It is simply overrated. To be honest it would come in Top 20 but definitely not in the Top Ten.
The only good thing they have is the big, scenic Campus. But spending $ 80000 for that seems unreasonable. Also there are other schools which boost lovely Campus and offer much for the same tuition.
If you are of Asian origins, you should definitely target the Schools in the North East or the West coast. Why? Because they have a healthy mix of various ethnicity apart from the well known Brand in our home countries. Most big names are in and around NY, DC, California. One interesting point to note is, though Georgetown has a low ranking it is more popular and most sought than UVA. This factor itself speaks volume about UVA - its Professors, management and other academic or non academic services offered ( or rather not offered).
There are far better and resourceful schools than UVA. I would urge you to try again then be sorry by getting into UVA.
All the Best

Dear kiwicool,
Thank you very much for your information but I honestly think it is bullshit!
1. nothing to say about that but I know from Vault that their diversity rate is better than Chicago which is in the north
2. I got a very generous scholarship ans reading from other year posts they are quite generous.
3. They have professors Who work at skadden so I guess these guys must not ne complete idiots with no international bac kg round.
4 thé graduate Studies office is very helpful. I have had à Skype conversation with the associate dean who explained me everything there is to know about UVA ans always respond to my emails.
5. what is the basis for this statement, it has consistently been in thé top ten of Vault and usnews and fares better in the leiter's rançon.
I do only agree with what you say about the campus and wonder why you created an account today only to spit on UVA. Maybe you are waitlisted and hope to discourage some people who were admitted

@jlemaitr when did you receive a decision about your scholarship?
Posted Mar 06, 2015 16:00
last week but I don't think they release all their decisions at the same time

Any news from UVA?
Posted Mar 25, 2015 06:48
I don't think not that much applicants apply UVA compared with other top schools, but it takes too too long. I've heard no news yet, even I didn't apply axactly on the deadline.

Hi all,
I spoke with the Assistant Dean for Graduate Studies. She informed me that the decisions will be released before April.
