Hi -
I'm a Belgian law student and plan to apply to the Berkeley LL.M. Program. I have to hurry, though, as the applications close in a couple of weeks...
I have some difficulties finding a "Check drawn on a US Bank" or "International Money Order", as my local bank cannot offer me any such documents. Alternatively, they offer me to transfer the money (but I don't have any account number) or to give me traverel checks. I suppose I could also use Western Union money order services.
Does anybody has any experience on this? How did you solve it?
Thanks in advance for helping me out here!

there must be banks in belgium issuing money orders....my bank in canada told me the same thing as your bank, but i found another one and sent the money orders for some of the application fees...it costed about 6 dollars for each money order (it would have been cheaper if i had an account in that bank)...hope this helped...

Not too much no ...
I don't even know what a money order is or what it should look like!!
Would Western Union's money transfer service qualify as a "international money order"?
Thanks again

it looks like a cheque...
it states the amount ($) and to whom (name of the school).
for example if the application fee is $70, you give the bank that amount (plus the fees) and the bank will give you in return a piece of paper (=money order) stating all this ($, "pay to the order of: X school) , and this is the piece of paper you send to the school(s).
as regards the western union money tranfer, i suggest you check with the school. and if it has o be with money order, then i suggest you go to other banks.
