USC GOULD vs NORTHWESTERN

Hi guys! Northwestern did me dirty.. they sent me a congratulatory email for my admission into the general LLM program and then told me they made a clerical mistake and I’m on the waitlist! That was heart breaking!

Now on the flip side.. I have also gotten accepted at USC Gould for their LLM with a $10k scholarship!
What do you guys suggest I do? Should I wait for NW to respond back with the wait list? I have to submit my deposit to USC by April 01, 2019. I already live in Chicago downtown 3 streets away from Northwestern .. so while it’s a higher ranked school and a comfortable choice .. I feel like USC will prepare me better to take the CA bar exam! My husband is more than supportive for our move to USC.. so we are really leaning towards USC.
Just wanted to know your thought with a similar dilemma of being wait listed. Any idea how long they take to respond?

Also waiting to hear from Berkeley! (The other schools I got accepted into with scholarships at Depaul and university of San Diego - my safety schools)

Hi! Congratulations! If you have both, NW seems to be a better choice due to its ranking and the opportunity to do a certificate with the prestigious business school "Kellogg".

You could:

(1) Let know NW that you got an offer with a scholarship from USC, and ask them if they can provide you an updated feedback about your position on the waitlist. (But I am not sure it will be effective because they usually wait withdraw from student before accepting a new one).

(2) Ask USC (a) to extend your deadline (if you have been accepted with a scholarship they want you, so they would probably accept to extend your deadline); and (b) maybe also increase your scholarship (because it's likely that few students with an important scholarship withdrew, so they will have additional scholarship to distribute). If your deadline has been extended, you can chase NW to ask them a definitive answer before that time.

However, according to the Californian bar, you should investigate about the requirements. One of them if to follow an Ethics class in Californian law. (many topics talk about that in the forum)

Hi! So I was really leaning towards USC because of the CA bar exam! However I got into Berkeley and that trumps both schools so I have accepted their offer! Thanks for your post!

USC seems to be a good choice. Chicago is too cold to live now.
