Does an official ranking of American universities exist?
Where can I find it?
Thank you!

Yes,
There is the US News and World Report. This ranks universities as well as Law Schools. There is no legitimate LLM ranking, but US News is used by most Americans who care about rankings.

Oh sorry...do you mean an 'official' ranking like sanctioned by some educational body? I do not know of any such list as this. But US News is used here in the US like Times is used in UK.

Actually, I did mean 'official ranking' by an government body.
But your answer is very useful too,
thank you!

The USNEWS Ranking is the Bible in the US for Law Schools
Every student in the US knows the USNEWS ranking of the Law School he attends.

Several articles have even been written in legal reviews about the influence of this Ranking on students' choices.
In my opinion, this ranking is very reliable (of course, it doesn't mean that you must choose "your" Law School solely on the basis of this ranking).
More importantly, US recruiters pay a lot of attention to it.

but this US NEWS ranking shows only the top-100 universities...

Yes, when you go to the page for law schools, the TOP SCHOOLS section is basically like the top 100. If you want the next level go to Tier 3, or the next level, Tier 4 (no rank order within these though). There are also specialty rankings for different subject areas. Hope this helps and good luck with the applications!
