Hi,
I am a perm. resident in MA with a UK LLB, but no LPC or formal legal training. I am hoping to sit an LLM to satisfy the MA critera. One of the critera also mentions:
1. The applicant is admitted to the practice of law in a foreign country;
Do I satisfy this criteria by solely having an LLB?
thanks

No, the degree isn't sufficient. You must be qualified as either a barrister or solicitor. If you choose this option, they will require a letter from the law society to verify that you are in good standing

thanks for response. That is how I read it as well, but confusingly different colleges have said I would be fine with solely the degree.

I'm not sure who you spoke with at the colleges but I would confirm directly with the state bar. I have all the info on the NY, DC, and CA requirements but I haven't checked MA. My comments are based on the CA and NY interpretations of that same phrase and an assumption that they are consistent
