Hi friends
I decide to apply for the LL.M program of illinois University for the International Criminal law. I have really a very good background but my IBT score is 84.
Would you please help me and tell me whether it is possible for me to apply to that university or other universities successfully. (in practice, whether they accept this score?)
Can I get full financial aid?
thanks inadvance for you helping
the possibility of my success

Cheer up. You will be fine.
You choose the right program for the right school definitely.
I think you need to work on statement of purpose to show why and how are you going to pursue your academia or litigating practice experience in the future whether in US market or back to your home country.
Remember showing your strong motivation.
I hope you have a good GPA in your LLB or master of law in your home country.
Of course, that you are willing to retake the IBT is the best.
Even just hitting the score of 90 will enlarge your chance.
You will never know what it may take to gain admission.
Good luck to you.

I think you maybe fine.
Last year, I have a friend admitted to UIUC.
His ibt is more than 95.
His GPA is 3.8/4.
Every individual varies.
I think you need very strong statement of purpose and good recommendation letter.
I wish you good luck.

I think you should apply for Cornell and 2-years ll.m. at Georgetown. If I were you, I would take TOEFL test again. I took TOEFL test many times and got 100 in the last minute.

Thx dear lawlady
but what is 2 years LLM program at GTU.
1) what is its difference with 1 year program?
2) Does they accept my toefl score for that program?
3) Does it have international criminal law?
Thx in advance.

Why don't you consult the site with regard to the 2-year LLM? My impression is that during the 2 year program, a student spends some of his/her time during the first year studying/improving the language.
Re your 2nd question: hm... I don't know what score they will want. Why don't you call or write them and ask how competetive the process is right now, when the deadline is only a month from now?
Re the 3rd one: hm, I think that you should ask somebody at the adms office.. I think that general LLMs give a lot of freedom when it comes to choosing classes. I am speculating that possibly a general-LLM-student may choose any class, may be even Criminal Law. hm.. I am not sure about that though...
If I were you, I would call GULC right away and ask all these questions. They are very nice people.

With regard the 1st question, you may read info on the site - that may help a bit.. And you may start collecting docs(if you have not done that yet) in order to be prepared to apply if you decide to apply.
Good Luck!

I would definitely take another TOEFL and send my score report to the school after I see my score. Because most of the schools including the top ones accept a new TOEFL score even after the deadline. In addition, I would write a letter together with my personal statement indicating "I will take a new TOEFL and I am confident that I will take... Moreover I am planning to come to the US before the program starts to improve my English...etc."

Dear as_llm
Many thx for your help. I am really sure that I can get a better score if I take another IBT test but I don't know whether they will accept me for the LLM program and after the acceptance, I take a new toefl .
