Hi All,
I just saw this news about the 2017 U.S. News Law School Rankings Leak. Do you think we can trust this? Duke has come down 3 places and UMich has gone up 3 places. No other changes it seems.

Out of curiosity, what is the relevance of this ranking? I mean, I don't see how it changes anything at all.

I think people will now think twice about Duke. At least for me, it has created doubts. Also perception about UMich changes. Of course this holds good only if this turns out to be true.

Both are great schools, this does not change much.

I think I wasn't clear before, sorry. What I meant is if this ranking is at all relevant outside of the world of people choosing where to go for an LLM.
Does it have a "real" effect in the world outside of this rather limited universe? I honestly have no idea, but I know for a fact that in some places, if you say "Harvard", people will value you much more than if you say "Yale", which is a bit inconsistent with the ranking itself.

I agree. It is inconsistent.
And it usually does not matter when you are choosing any school from T-14.
But it matters when someone is looking for employment opportunities (for LLM) and that is their most important factor in choosing the law school.
If you pass out of Harvard, your chances of employment is highest and not as much as say Georgetown. That is my understanding.

Harvard, Yale, and Stanford are the elites of the elites.
All come behind are the elites only.
So, there's a difference.
