I had an interview yesterday for the LST program.

I haven’t received notices about admission but I know that some people for my program got accepted today.

Do you believe the school has already send all the admissions? The interviews said that they will make everything as possible to send updates between Thursday and Friday.

No interview here but I emailed them (at this point it didn’t hurt to try) and they said decisions will be released by Thursday or Friday.

Hi all - I got waitlisted on April 3 for the CGP program.

I'm thinking to create a Whatsapp group for those waitlisted. Do let me know if you wish to be invited. Thank you!

Hi. I applied to the Environmental program. Haven't received any news so far - nothing about interviews, wait list, or rejection.

At this stage, I think I should assume I was rejected, right?

Same here, but for the IELBP. Does anyone know if the results for the IELBP have already been sent?

Does anybody know why it takes Stanford a long time before they release results? If someone can explain how their process works?

Anyway since I do not have anything better to do, I scoured the WhatsApp and LLM guide.

Just a recap of what we know about the Stanford process (but please take it with a grain of salt - this may not be accurate):

From what I’ve gathered the interviews were done last week of March and depending on the program, those who were interviewed generally received their acceptance in a few days or within 1 week from the interview

However not all who were interviewed were accepted. If they are not accepted, sometimes they are waitlisted. I’m not aware of someone who was interviewed but rejected.

No one has mentioned in the LLM nor WhatsApp groups that they have been rejected. But some have intimated that they have been waitlisted (not sure if these are only interviewed people or if these are people who were not interviewed at all)

Based on the previous posts Stanford always takes a while to reject people (from middle of April up to almost end of April, they are sending rejections)

It appears that someone was supposed to have an interview but the teaching fellow who was supposed to interview this person waived it because he/she saw that the student had a high-ish TOEFL score (was it around 110/120?). — I wonder if the toefl or English was the basis for conducting an interview? However this is likely a case-to-case basis type of the thing (and it could just very well be that the fellow had dinner plans and decided to waive the interview… haha who knows)

-Some posts on LLM guide mention that they were not interviewed but received an acceptance letter. However it is not clear whether they received it early in the month of April or up until late April

-for accepted students they have until May 1 to confirm attendance. From here it could be that some people who have been waitlisted will be offered a place as late as May/June. I read somewhere that this has happened before.

Anyway that’s all I know for now. But personally I’ve assumed that I’m going to another school this fall. It would be nice if someone knows or can share why Stanford takes so long to accept and reject, why they conduct interviews, among other things

Best of luck to us wherever we will end up this fall!

Seeking honest opinion. Do you folks think that the selection by Ivy’s are very similar? - if Columbia doesn’t take you, the chances with Stanford or Harvard is low/zero?

Hi new here, just passed my undergrad. Applying to Stanford. I already applied to Knight-Hennessy. However I just noticed that they state "except unusual circumstances, candidates must have 2 years of professional experience before commencing LLM" I will have completed a year's PQE by the time I start my LLM. I have multiple internships, would that be sufficient. Or is there no point in applying?

Hi!

That's not my experience.
I didn't apply to Stanford but I've applied to Harvard, NYU and Columbia. I did my LLM at Harvard.

I didn't a very good experience with Columbia. They promised rolling admissions, yet did not reply for months. When I reached out to them to ask for decision after getting admission and scholarships both from Harvard and NYU, they asked me to forward them the decisions on admission and scholarships from other schools.
I only decided to forward the NYU, because I wanted my application to be assessed on the merits rather than compared to who else wanted me, and Columbia replied that they did not offer me admission.

I know they do this to other applicants as well. They are too hung up on their status as an Ivy League institution and don't seem to treat people fairly. My impression is that it's one of the reasons a lot of members of faculty left Columbia for NYU in recent years.

If you are thinking about applying to Ive League institutions, I'd definitely recommend applying to a variety of them as the results will be quite different and you can't predict them.

I write a lot about the LLM application process, my experience of applying to and studying at Harvard, as well as the experience of evaluating applications as part of the admissions committee on my website (link in the bio).

Hope it helps and good luck! ;)
