Unless the 6-7 people who have confirmed their admission (or those they know of) on this forum represent 30%-40% of the total number of admits (assuming the remaining admitted folks are not represented here) in which case things may have already been decided for the batch. Of course I could be wrong, and am hoping I am, just also being realistic.

This actually demonstrates poor organization of their admission team's work (perhaps it takes too much to work out some solution and send timely decisions to everyone :)

I am also losing hope to receive a positive response. Although I suspect that the response will not positive, 1 April seems to be so far.

I completely agree. I don't find it right that they would take so long to give responses, especially when they know full well that other schools often request answers to be given and deposits to be paid by April 1st.

I don't think I'm going to get in, I'm no longer sure that the ELP programme is the best for me, and I've gotten other offers that I'm very excited about, but knowing would definitely be nice!

This rings especially true since the application fee was far higher than for any other school, and I thus consider that I have a bit of a right to know.

Is receiving a call from the Admissions Committee a compulsory requirement for admission?

Judging by previous years it is not. My guess is the call is a strong indicator that they want you. I would place people who get called among those they would prefer not to lose to other schools. But it is not necessary for admission and in previous years I think more admits are not called relative to those who are called.

Equally the call could be to verify your comfort with English.
