I have been admitted for pursuing an LL.M. at the University of Houston in the energy sector.
According to my understinding (and research) is a good choice for specializing in this field of law in the US (I am even planning to decline a proposal of a top ten University). Nevertheless I would be interested in getting any feedback from someone who already studied there (I am a little bit concerned because of some negative impressions posted in different websites by students pursuing their JD program at the UH Law Center).
Moreover, any european planning to attend this programme next year?
Specific programme Vs University's reputation - University of Houston

Hey,
I am a European graduating this May. There are other 5 of us, all in the Energy concentration! I am about to graduate from the energy programme in Houston.
The concentration here is excellent. Reputation wise, the school has some of the best faculty in this area (Prof Weaver, Flatt, Burke and so forth) Prof Weaver even does the bar exam question in Texas! For you to see how respected she is.
I am not sure where did you find negative feedback about the JD. I mean its not a top 10 school but it has 2 or 3 top 10 specialty programmes. Health law, IP and Energy!!!
The negative impressions is about the location of the school. It is in a bad area of town, however they are finishing graduate housing across the school so it will be super good to live across the street. The campus is in a degradated part of town, but the school itself its great. The recreation center is great! huge pools....the biggest gym I have ever seen and an outside pool with volleyball and parties year long!I was hesitating like you, but I am very happy I did the energy concentration here! If I feel I need more I can always go for a general LLM in a few years. I can tell you I had the time of my life.
You will need a car in Houston. People are super friendly and the weather, apart from summer, is great.
Reputation in Houston, very good. JD's get jobs easily in the Houston market, which is not overloaded with people like in DC or NY or California.
About the facilities, they are not bad and the Dean just approved the project of a new building! I can tell you that it is a great course, very though but generally I don't regret coming here. It it a cheap bargain these days (25,000) and the quality of education and degree I got is great!
Btw, Texas is great!!!!! I don't want to leave
