Several questions

Minion

Hi everyone,

I had a couple of questions regarding the application foe universities in the United States.

First of all I was wondering if law schools regularly contact recommenders? I’m planning to apply to quite a lot of universities in order to increase my changes and it would be a bit annoying for them if they would get calls and mails of all of them.

Secondly, I was wondering if other law schools could see for how many law schools you applied through LSAC?

Lastly, I was wondering for how many universities you applied? I had ten universities in mind but I don’t know I think I’m exaggerating. My profile is quite weak (no distinctions during my undergraduate and I took me 4 years in order to pass instead of 3), but it’s my dream to study in the states so I would like to spread my changes.

Thank you so much for all of your help.

From what I've heard they only contact the recommenders if they have any doubt regarding the recommendation. So, as a standard, they do not contact recommenders.

I don't know if other law schools can see how many schools have you applied for, I would guess not. However, in a few application forms they ask for which other law schools you applied or plan to apply.

I applied to 9 schools. I think you should only apply for those schools that you actually see yourself attending. Also, have in mind that you will have to do a research about each of them to write a strong personal statement explaining why you want to go there.

Hello,
I was wondering if someone could tell me if each application means paying a fee for each one. This is because I am considering various programmes from different Universities and each of the application fees are truly expensive.
Thank you very much!

Hi, if  you use LSAC you will generally have to pay 2 different set of fees for each application:
- the "LSAC's fee" of $30 per law school report (this fee can be disregarded if you apply directly to the law school without usiing LSAC); and
- the "law school's application fee" which depends of each law school ($60-90), but some law schools accept to waive this fee automatically or upon request (usually law schools above T14).

For more details, please see the LSAC's website: https://www.lsac.org/llm-other-law-program-applicants/application-process-llm-other-law-programs/llm-credential-assembly
