Dear friends and colleagues,
I already hold an LLM from an European university and am thinking of going for a second one, this time in the US. Any thoughts/comments? crazy idea? btw I'm 30

hello,

I'm exactly in your position..and I'm 31...sometimes I think it is a bit crazy, but then I believe it could be a valid experience and I am planning to try and stop in the US a couple of years after the master and then come back to Europe.

Which Unis are your apply for?

It would cost alot of money and probably would not be worth it. I mean, how many LL.M degrees do you need? If you want to come to the US to live for a year or two you can get a student visa by enrolling in a community college for a very cheap rate. While in the US you could also look into the possibility of taking the New York or California bar exams.

At least the dollar is worthless right now compared to the Euro....now's the time to do an LLM in the US.

True, with the Euro hitting almost 1.40 to the dollar, a very good LLm is cheaper than buying a sport car, and a LLm in a prestigious university lasts a life long, while the car, usually, only few years....

Obviously is very personal approach, but I consider a second LLm as a sabbatical year, in a Country I am interested in and studying the subject I like and work for.
