1) Which schools you apply to. You should make a decision on where you want to go based on your interests and future after school. American schools appear to give more scholarships and to a greater number of people than British ones for example;

2) Your academic credentials;

3) How you frame your aplication. A good study of the website of the schools you are applying to should help you understand what they want in applications and personal statements and so on and

4) The right attitude, which I think "poor smart African Girl" you already have.
