Dear All,
I am a 29 year old lawyer from Argentina who wants to pursue an LLM in a good US law school on 2015.
My GPA is average is Argentina (equivalent to 7.70/10). I will obtain a Masters Degree from an Argentine law school on 2014.
I have published three papers in business law so far. I have also acted as assistant proffessor in Business Law for aprox. 2 years.
I worked for aprox. 5 and half years in a very well known Argentine law firm in Finance / M&A / Dispute Resolution. I did a small internship awarded in the ICC in Paris. Afterwards, I was hired by the Latin American branch of a top tier NY law firm in Finance / M&A. I currently work in said law firm and they have proposed to pay half of the tuition of an US LLM and, afterwards, to work in NY or CA for a year or so. After that, I intend to stay a little bit longer abroad but I most definitively will go back to Argentina eventually to live and work.
I have thoroughly read the board discussions as well as others and would really appreciate your feedback as to the following:
1. What law schools LLM programs would you recommend for someone like me? I aim to do economic policy / business law (with emphasys on international law / cross border perspectives).
2. What are my chances to be admitted in a LLM program based on their tier (i.e., HSY, CCN, and so forth)?
3. Any suggestions for obtaining funds for paying the other half of tuition?
4. Any other suggestion or comment you may have in connection herewith (which will be much appreciated).
Thank you very much in advance!
Regards
