The Program of Advanced Studies on Human Rights and Humanitarian Law is sponsored by the Academy on Human Rights and Humanitarian Law of American University Washington College of Law (AUWCL).
This Program is an excellent way to maximize your summer, giving you the ability to earn as many as seven credits in as little as 3 weeks from May 26 to June 12 through total immersion into the realm of human rights and humanitarian law.
Our Program offers 18 courses in English and Spanish, taught by 40 world renowned experts and practitioners, including judges from International Tribunals, UN special Rapporteurs, experts from Think Tanks, NGOs and other Inter-Governmental Organizations. The topics of the courses cover a range of topics including Economic, Social and Cultural rights, Women and International HR Law and International Justice for HR Violations.
Apart from our Faculty, the Program also gathers more than 150 participants from more than 25 different countries with different levels of professional experience, presenting a unique networking opportunity for students.
For students taking three or more courses, and successfully completing exams, we will award you with the Academy plaque of completion, which signifies your exceptional accomplishment given the rigor of taking three classes. Certification from the internationally recognized Program of Advanced Studies on Human Rights and Humanitarian Law is highly valued in this competitive field and can provide a pivotal edge in the U.S. and abroad.
