I had a phone interview with Hilary, at American University, Washington College of Law for their Fall 2010, LLM program on Law and Government.
We talked for 30+ min and she said she would going to give a strong recommendation, and put on the director's desk Monday night.
I haven't heard back and it's now Friday of the same week. Has anyone else had phone interviews? Have you gotten acceptances or rejections? How long did it take? Is anyone else still waiting like me?

Congrats! I'm looking at that program for next year. Can you give me some feedback on what the interview was like?

(1). They wanted to know why I want to go to get my llm.
(2). Why I wanted/ their llm program would specifically work for me.
(3). What my ultimate career goals were and how a law & gov't degree would help versus another program
(4). How dedicated I'd be to the program.
(5). What classes would help me achieve my goals
(6). fact-specific questions about my application and personal statement specific to me only, so be ready to answer those.
But bottom-line, they didn't want me just to be avoiding the "real world" and that an llm would actually be great step for me.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Any other advise you can offer on the application process?

Apply as early as you can, have good letters of recommendation, and a good personal statement.
If your GPA is on the low side, get some work experience ~ pair or unpaid ~ in the area you're applying for. That could help as well to show ur dedication.
Also, don't forget to apply for the tuition remission scholarship. They are NEED based, not MERIT based.
Good luck!

Can anyone provide information on the Labor + Employment specialty area in the LLM law + government concentration? I am interested in that specialty area. Do you know if there is a strong connection with American Univ. and the EEOC or NLRB for externship positions during the degree program? Thanks in advance.

do the phone interviews happen for the ILSP program at AU as well?
Posted Jan 23, 2011 22:36
Hi, I'm very interested in AU, WCL, specially the LLM in ILSP that so many people strongly recommend.
If anyone had already graduate in AU can tell me how is a day in AU, how many hours of class per day do you have, how many hours do you have to study per day, is it difficult for an international student?
I wouldn't like to spend a big amount of money and then realize that I can afford the toughness.
Thanks
