what are the admission requirements for georgetown, penn, columbia and NYU? I have an English degree and I am having trouble working out how to convert my degree into the 'American equivalent' (i.e. GPAs etc)

There should be information on each law school's website. Columbia at least sets out their admission requirements very clearly and don't state their LLM requirements as being in terms of US GPAs. I'd say you should be in the top 10% of your class.
