NYU part-time

Anyone out there a part-timer hoping to go to NYU in the spring of 2009? If so, have you received any news? My application was complete second week of September and went to the committee at the end of that month. Decisions are supposed to roll for part-time candidates, and it's already December with no word.

If anyone has some insight, that'd be great.

Are you talking about spring enrollment or fall?
I applied for fall 2009 part-time. It is said that the committee is reviewing spring enrollment now. If you applied for spring, hopefully the news will come soon.

I applied for spring part-time. My application was complete on September 15, and judging by the e-mail I received, went up to the Committee at the end of September/beginning of October. It's almost December now and classes begin January 12. Decisions are supposed to be rolling as the applications come in, so I think it's very frustrating to have to wait all this time.

Did you apply for tax LLM? Not to worry, eventually the decision will come.
I have a question, since most courses are in daytime, how can the part-time students take so many courses in the workday? I just doubt a student with full-time job could take 3 morning/afternoons off each week.

Yes, for the tax program. Part-time students almost exclusively take evening courses, and I think many begin in the 6pm-8pm time frame. As a result, they just have a more limited pool of classes to pick from.

I checked the course schedule and didn't see a lot of evening courses offered. 24 credits is required in Tax program, right? So even if the students take all of the evening courses, it seems still not enough to meet the credits requirement...

Actually, there are many classes in the 6-750pm time slot, and several in the 8-10 slot as well. Along with the possibility of online courses, you should be able to finish the program taking only evening classes. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like you'd be able to take all the classes you'd like to, or maybe even concentrate on one tax area effectively, unless you could take an earlier time as well. Some employers are flexible, and if it's one day a week, will permit you to go to the early class.

For the first semester, the prerequisite courses are available in the evenings, so for at least one semester, you won't have to worry about it.

All right. Tax program appears to be specially designed for part-time.
I am not so lucky 'cause I apply for regular program. Most of the core courses are offered in the daytime. Even if I was admitted, I don't know how to get through...
