NYU Course Picking

gd_amyfeng

Picking courses is really giving me a headache. Can anybody please give me some advice? I would like to know what courses are the most useful for BAR exam and job hunting. Also, are seminars too hard for a newly-grad non-English speaker? Some courses like Corporate Finance and M & A are taught both in fall and in spring. Which semester should I take those courses? Thanks for any input!!!

take Corporate Finance and M&A courses now (and you should take Corporations too), especially if you are looking for a job (firms are looking for those types of courses on your transcript), and anyway if the classes are highly requested next semester, you may never have the chance to take them.

there are no pre-requisites, you must have looked at the wrong line, it is Corporate Finance (L03.3020) and Corporations (L03.2010).

If I were you, I would take M&A in the Fall term and Corporate Finance in the Spring period. I had some colleagues who took this course last year and what they said was the course was a joint Stern/ Law School course and it was fiercely quantitative. On the other hand, the Spring one seems to be more lawyer-oriented (i.e. easier for students that do not have a strong math background).

I selected M & A for the fall semester (L03.3043) and albert warns me that it has one or more prerequisites. But there is no such requirement indicated in the course description~~~
So are we only permitted to choose M&A in the spring semeser???
