Is Monday public holiday in united states? Are they celebrating Easter and take Monday off?

I received correspondence from another school.
So I am guessing its not a public holiday.

It depends. It is not a public holiday for all, but sometimes private schools give Monday to its students as a holiday. I would check the ND academic calendar and see if today is a holiday for the school. I am fairly certain it is.
