Hello everyone, I am a foreign attorney planning to give the California Bar Exam. I have heard that it is necessary to give the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE) before giving the Bar Exam. I would like to give the MPRE in August this year (2010) and give the Bar Exam in 2011.

Accordingly, I want to know if a foreign attorney is eligible to give the MPRE and what are the documentation requirements.

Also is there any recommended study material for studying the MPRE

When I took the MPRE a few years ago, you could take it before or after the bar exam. Check to see if that is still the case. There is a certain window of time before/after the bar exam during which you must take the MPRE. BARBRI offers preparation courses for the MPRE, as do other commercial study guide companies. Do not be fooled by the exam. Many people write it off, but it is a challenging exam. You want to achieve at least a score of 85.
