For those of you trying to understand if the costs mentioned in the LLM programs for living expenses are accurate take a look here.

The top five are:
San Fran
NYC
Boston
Washington DC
Los Angeles
The top 4 typically have rents of over $2,000 month for a 1 bedroom apartment and San Fran is actually close to $3,000 right now. If you want to live in a good area in Washington DC expect about $3000 as well. DC has some very bad areas to live in so be careful there. Same is true of NYC of course. In Los Angeles the area around USC isn't the best either. UCLA is much nicer (but more expensive).
If you are paying less than $2000 a month in any of those cities, check the area around the apartment. On campus housing may be cheaper. If is is much less than $2000, it likely is either a VERY small place or in not too safe of an area. Again the only caveat to that statement is if it is school sponsored housing. So it may not be quite so tiny but still check out the area.
