Jess2006, When did you apply to Michigan and when was your application complete? Have they offered you some financial aid?
I've also applied there and i'm fretting to learn what the decision will be, which may be announced in late or early April as promised by them. The Admissions Committee Coordinator informed me that my file was complete in December the 5th. What i don't like about Michigan's LL.M: program is that the number of seats available is small, around 35 or 40 something in toto, so that chances of getting through are scanty in comparison to filing for admission into large programs such as Columbia, NYU, Harvard, Georgetown and the like.

Thank Leza
Hi Roberto,
I just did a search of my email and actually don't have a record of a completion notification. However, I think that I submitted my application in October or November (I am applying for a few and don't have my file with me now so can't remember exactly). They don't decide financial aid until March/April, when all admissions decisions ahve been made. I think maybe that mine was an earlier application and they decide on a rolling basis?? Where did you find the info re the size of the program - I looked but can't find it??
I wouldn't worry - I am stressing about Columbia because other people have heard about that!
A theory a friend of mine has is that less people apply to places like Michigan so less competition (it all evens out and the like).
Good luck - keep me posted (and I'll let you know when I submitted when I find the fedex receipt).
Jess

I thought of something else that may explain my earlier decision - I didn't use LSAC. Maybe it takes longer for those applications that do because of the extra admin step?

Congrats~
Did you get financial aid? I think that is the hardest part of admission to a US LLM because their fees are so high!. Aid is what will dictate whether I go to the US. So in Seinfeld speak, an offer with no aid is like an "unvite". (sorry, could'nt resist).
Did you have much published for admission into a school of that calibre? Much work experience?
P.S: I sent you a PM.
Good luck and I hope you get into your 1st choice.

Jess2006, Thank you very much for your input. In regards with where i got the data about the size of the program here i'll show you the web address: http://www.law.umich.edu/prospectivestudents/graduate/advanced-index.htm.
It reads, and i'm paraphrasing: "Each year, our graduate programs consist of approximately 35-45 new candidates in the general master's degree programs, 4-8 new candidates in the International Tax LL.M. program, and about 10 S.J.D. students in residence."
As i've informed you, i'm righteous in deeming this program as less likely to offer acceptance. It's simple probablity law.
Ciao and good luck with your other law schools decisions.

Baby88, Congratulations on your admission to University of Michigan Law Schoo at Ann Arbor!! I candidly wish you the best of lucks in your educational pursuits and i understand why you stayed up all night, i would've probably reacted in the same way. After all, Who on earth could remain so impervious as to be able to sleep following an admissions offer from an Institution of so high a stature as Michigan Law School.
On a different matter, Could you please tell me when you received the acknowledgement indicating that your file was complete?
