Has somebody taken a loan from one of these US organizations offering loans to international students (as comprehensive access loan etc)? Which loan program have you chosen? Why? I'm about to ask for a loan and any advice would be welcome. Thanks everybody :))

Hi...I'm currently mulling over a loan from the UPenn- Citi Assist Loan Program..it's a 'soft' loan, with a long repayment period. However, there is a catch to it...you will require a US Cosigner for the same.

It would be helpful to check your school's Citi Assist Loan Program..it's also called the Graduate Professional Alternative Loan (GPAL).

Maria_Gri,

After much careful consideration and talking to various people, I think I am more inclined towards Harvard now. Sigh, I look forward to an exciting experience, but am also a little nervous!

There is a loan granted through OAS to Latin-American or Caribbean citizens studying in US. The VERY good part: 0% interest rate. The bad part: it requires a US cosigner. There are ways to get the loan without the US cosigner but for some people it may be difficult to use them. Anyway, just give it a look, it may work for you. Look for the Rowe Foundation in OAS website.

Good luck,

W
