Who did apply for UT Austin LLM ? did you hear anything about the application?
I have received an e-mail today that said I was admitted and then later that I it was a mistake and that they had sent that e-mail to everybody. They said that in fact they did not review my application yet. I do not know I have my doubts maybe it was only me and they decided not to admitt me but they did a mistake and they will tell me later. Does anybody know anything about this?

That sounds really awkward. Austin is supposed to be a very good university, so things like this should not happen. Good luck anyway!

Hi migre,
received the same e-mail. Don't worry about it - I doubt that they were singeling us out. It is pretty embarrassing for UT however. I don't even want to imagine, how many people they will have to disappoint horribly.

Thank you. I think you are right. Do you know if it is difficult to get in UT Austin ? ( I know that the program is very small) . It is my first choice. Regards

Getting accepted into a top U.S. LL.M. program can be quite difficult depending on the circumstances. These programs try to admit students from as many different countries as possible in order to offer their own U.S. JD students a comparative legal perspective. If there are a lot of applicants from your country, then admission becomes more competitive. My understanding is that itâs relatively easier to be admitted from Canada or Europe and considerably harder if youâre from Asia.
U. Texas (Austin) has a small program but I also believe that they have fewer applicants than other elite LL.M. programs. Moreover, many students who are admitted to Texasâ LL.M. often choose to peruse their LL.M. elsewhere (ex: Berkley, Virginia, Columbia) and therefore admission is not as competitive as in other elite schools.
UT is a wonderful school and very highly regarded in the U.S. ⦠I hope you are offered the privilege to attend because youâre going to have an amazing year there. Austin is also far and away the nicest, and most liberal, city in Texas.

Thank you Bonobo. Well I am not interested in working in an American law firm, that is Why I am not applying to the called top ten schools. I am applying only to those places I really like and based in their program. I prefer a small LLM with good teachers in a nice city. That is why I applied to UT Austin. I also applied to The George Washington because I am interested in their Intellectual Property Program which is also small. I also applied to U. Arizona Tucson because I am interested in their International Trade Law LLM, but I so not know so much about the school itself. I will came back to my country for sure. If I work in a law firm in the US is just for some experience time. All the best and thank you for the info

Did anybody hear from Austin?

Here in Mali, the University of Texas is well known but the University of Arizona is not. I agree with the people that suggested you go to UofT. Unless you get a huge scholarship from Arizona, go to the more prestigious school

Thank you I will bear that in mind for sure.

I have received an email from UT Austin informing of my admission to the LLM program. Good luck to all. Austin is a great town and UT is a very good school.

Hey Costa congratulations ! are you planning to attend? if so maybe we will meet there. Do you know if there are jobs opportunities in the US with a degree from UT austin at least for one year?

Hey, migre, yes I will attend UT. It was my one single shot, have not applied to other schools. As to working in the US in the following year, I think there are good chances. There are quite a few large international law firms in Texas (specially Houston) and I think some of them might have a 1-year program for international lawyers. As I work for a Texas based (but international) law firm, I'll probably spend one year after the LLM either in Houston or Dallas. Good luck and hope to see you there.

I am from Panama and will do the LLM Program at UT. Does anyone know how many students they admit (i.e. how big is their program?). Also, what schools would you say are UT peers?

they usually admit 25 - 30 students. Congrats on your acceptance; will see you in Austin.
