Dear prospective LL.M. students,
I am writing to you as the Assistant Dean for International and Graduate Programs at Seattle University School of Law. Having been both an LL.M. and JSD student, with over nine years of studying and teaching experience in the US, I understand how challenging it can be to choose an LL.M. program. In light of my own experiences, I wish you all the best in your decision-making process.
I invite you to consider Seattle University's LL.M. programs. We have recently made significant investments in internationalization, expanding our international and graduate programs. Currently, we offer two LL.M. programs: one in American Legal Studies and another in Technology, Innovation, & Entrepreneurship. Soon, we will introduce a third LL.M. program focusing on Human Rights.
Applications for both the Fall (2024) and Spring (2025) terms are still open. During each admission period, we plan to award 20 competitive partial-tuition scholarships based on merit and financial need. Even without a scholarship, our tuition rates are highly competitive. As a matter of principle, we charge the same credit rate for LL.M. students as we do for our JD students.
More importantly, my team and I are dedicated to creating opportunities for belonging and success within our programs. preLaw magazine recently recognized Seattle University School of Law as one of the top 22 law schools for International Law, giving us an A or A+ rating. This accolade reflects our unwavering commitment to delivering outstanding legal education in one of the world's most innovative and dynamic tech hubs.
If you have any questions or would like to schedule a meeting to discuss further, please email me at llm@seattleu.edu

On a personal note, I understand that this can be a daunting period filled with applications and the anticipation of admission decisions. I encourage you to take some time for your well-being and to develop support structures. Studying in the US turned out to be a very rewarding experience for me, and I sincerely hope you share the same positive experience.
Warm regards,
Diogo Magalhaes
