LLM at BU. is it worth?

EminK

Hi guys,

I've applied to couple of Universities and BU among them.
Recently received an email from BU about scheduling a telepgone interview. Some guy from here told me that its a good sign, and I have a big chance to be admitted.

Actually I'm also waiting for decision from other Univ and just wonder If LLM at BU is worth, if I will be rejected from the rest other?

Current Bu and other Univs students, applicants, alumni, looking forward your reply.

Thanks for responses.

It depends what your plans are. BU usually gives scholarships to students with good credentials and therefore if you are a strong candidate, it is likely that they will offer you something. This, of course, will make everything less expensive, however, if you want to look for a job in the US market (which is extremely tough these days both for LLMs and JDs) I guess that there will be candidates with better brand names on their CVs. I know somebody who graduated last year from BU. She is still in NY without a job... (on the other hand my friends who graduated from Columbia are also without a job...) The market just sucks... I doubt if this is the right time for an LLM if your goal is to find a job in the US.

I know that BU has very good LLM programs and that they have a great reputation around the globe. Therefore, a LLM would be worth ist from a personal point of view and in a longterm I am sure also in a professional way...Look at the programs and decide wheter the concept, the classes and courses suit you...if so, it's worth it!

Thanks all for reply.

Actually I have no plan to stay in US for work. Just planing ro apply for NY Bar leter after LLM.
I'll return back to my country, but I have plans to work in teaching and participate in progects on improvement of state business legislation. So, I think I need good knowledge from reputed Univ.
I've also applied to Cornell, Duke, but don't know yet about my status. So, I'm just interested should I accept the BU offer (sure, if I'm admitted)? or I should try next year.

I have quite the same intention...and as far as I know, the programs at BU are considered to be very good. Therefore, I'd accept if you do not get into Cornell or Duke.

If your intention is to go back to your home country, BU is an excellent option for you. Great name with good prospects for a scholarship. BU's name is recognized worldwide. Enjoy...
