LLM and tax (or tax in general)

hey everyone, i have recently become interested in tax (i'm 2L at a Canadian law school) after interviewing with some firms they almost seemed discouraging about a career in tax, they stressed that you have to be incredibly cerebral, bright, intelligent...basically they made it sound like you had to be a genius to be a successful tax lawyer...this is coming from other lawyers during interviews...umm i don't have a tax or financial or economics background, i have a B.Comm and took the mandatory micro/macro economics and one finance class, i'm now taking intro to Canadian tax law, a course next semester regarding corporate taxation and am considering a masters in tax, i'm smart but by no means a genius, do you think i should abandon the idea of practicing in tax???? thanks everyone in advance!!!! : )
