Hey guys!
I'm a recent LLB graduate from Ireland. I received the equivalent of a 3.2 GPA in this degree and am wondering what my chances are at a good Intellectual Property school in the US. I have a decent amount of experience and I am due to sit the New York Bar in February 2015 and intend to pass first time.
Again what are my chances at a US LLM and what type of schools am I looking at?

My aim is to practice in the States so following the LLM I would intend to sit any other bar exam which may help me find employment.

Hi,
I don't think your GPA will place you at the top of the applicant pool of top schools so you will need some things to make up for it. Luckily, you can do that with the personal statement and rec letters. You haven't given any details on your experience, other than that it is 'a decent amount.' If it's in IP law, make sure to highlight that. If it's experience in other fields, it may not help you that much.
Have you done your research on taking the bar exam? Because I'm pretty sure you cannot take the NY bar exam with just a foreign LLB degree so I'm not sure how you are planning to do that.
Best of luck to you!

Cheers thanks for the advice. In relation to the bar question, Irish and UK graduates may sit the NYB without the 'cure' of the LLM. Most common law jurisdictions can as long as it fulfils durational time re: education. Therefore my undertaking of a US LLM would be for strictly specialisation reasons.

Hi!
Can someone please clarify whether 2 LORs for HLS should be okay (that's the minimum) - or will it be disadvantageous, given that HLS recognises, and is infact correct, that almost all applicants submit 3!
Anyone particularly with personal experience on this one?
Thanks.
