international Jobs

Interesting discussions here. Can somebody please tell me how do I apply for a job in international organizations like World Bank. I go to a school ranked in top 15. Career Guideance in my Schol has said they only look for LLM from selected colleges is that true? Does anybody know any body an LLM who got there? Which subjects do they want? GPA.

This might be a banal suggestion, but have you looked at the World Bank's website? You might also want to drop an email to their HR department and ask them how to apply. Perhaps one of your school's alumni works at that institution, you should find that out, he will be glad to help.

But perhaps you have done all that already.

I know of an LLM graduate from NYU who works at the world bank - it is possible; no two ways about it

sorry to be the bearer of bad news but i think that world bank has an element of exclusivity in selecting law hires.in hls they have recruited for legal associates program through the ny job fair with columbia.they have also recruited a small number of llms for doing business department of world bank through a select process of prescreening resumes and interviewing very few.sorry lawcurious but i think it is true. they only pick from selected schools, and even then selected candidates only.maybe if you know somebody there they can help you out when to apply, how to design resume to be picked.good luck to you

For most of these international prestigious jobs which give you a lot of premium in home countries, I would say the trick is networking, getting to know somebody who works there so that they tell you when there is a vacancy and how to interview. You can check with your career services for information of LLM alumnis who work there.

Or maybe they just don't have that many headquarters openings that are strictly for lawyers?

thanks for all the answers. I have been looking at the united nations websites-they have many openings for lawyers i will try. It seems for World Bank networking is the idea. Thanks for the people who sent me contacts of ex-LLMs in their schools in the WB i have contacted them and they are very helpful. There seems to be hope after all for even less known law schools. Thanks to Everybody
