To add to the rumors: The spot for the German LL.M. student seems to have been taken as well. Just talked to a colleague who said that one of his colleagues received the famous call sometime this week.

i mean what if there were 3 geniuses from ireland or uk would they not take them anyway

Congratulations! That's a great achievment!

There are - as far as I know - very strict quotas for each continent/country and a common lore in Germany is that there is only one spot each year for German applicants. Of course, this can all just be a rumor, but in general Yale's ll.m. class is rather diverse, so some sort of quota is definitely in place.

Some years ago, 2 Colombias were accepted and studied in the same year, so I think that that quota doesn't exists.
Moreover, usully you will not compete with people from your country, but from your region (i.e. South America, Eastern Europe etc.) So more than "country quota" there is a "region quota", but as far as I know is not completely estrict.

Congrats, if it's true (sorry). I heard that we should all hear by next Friday because they go away for spring then.

That's obviously software bug. It always says 12:00 am for those who signed up on the same day.

Still confused about the psttern here. I called and emailed Yale and the reply I got was the same: decisions will be made by mid-March!!!

BY mid-March, not IN mid-march.

Maybe so called 'decisions' is just another word for rejection...

Do we have any other Eastern Europeans here with news from Yale? I've been freaking out all day!
Posted Mar 07, 2009 03:45
I don't understand why they are always unwilling to admit they are relaesing admissions, and turning us away through those ill-worded boilerplate reply. This is not only a contempt of the applicants but also makes the admission process inefficient!!

I guess because it's Yale...let's see what next week brings...
