Hello everyone,
This website is great and is what I was looking for. Let me tell you my situation and please feel comfortable to tell me what would be the best choice.
I am French, I am 24 years old, I got a licence of law from a French university ( BA). Afterwards I went to Newcastle University in UK for an erasmus exchange to study common law and European Community law (master 1). Then I went back to France and i did a Master 2 in Mediation,Alternative Dispute Resolution and Communication crisis. Through this Master 2 I did an amazing internship in Los Angeles(California) with an international law firm, Paul Hastings Janosfky & Walker. I have been working with the president of the South Californian Mediation Association as well. Since the beginning of August I am at Hamline University (Minnesota) where I got a scholarship with the LLM program FOR A SEMESTER. So I will be done in December.
The one million dollar question is what should I do?
1st option: I stay in this university to finish the LLM and be awarded of a proper LLM degree. It would involve some costs (17 000 $ appreciatively)
2nd option: It is not sure yet but maybe I could go to the Harvard Law school as a visiting student (I avoid the fees but I dont get the degree) with the Harvard Negotiation Program for few months. It could be intellectually interesting and an experience at Harvard is always valuable on the CV.
3rd option: Going back to France, looking for an internship and prepare the Bar exam. I have been doing French law for a while so it could be very hard.
4th option: Going back to France for a while and finish my LLM later ( I dont even know if it is possible, I am working on it) .
5th option: I quit and I join one of my friends to open a night club in the Bermudas Island. It could be fun but lets focus on the 4th options.
I have been gathering information around me with lawyers in US and Europe and Teachers. I have the feelings that there is two answers.
1st: The LLM is a very valuable degree, go for it or you will regret it. You are lucky you already got a scholarship for half of it.
2nd: Forget about it my young friend, you are not a lawyer in your own country, a LLM is valuable with a professional experience.
Here is the situation gentlemen, Please feel comfortable to add answers. I read some very interesting mails on the discussion Board, so I hope you could help me out. Unfortunately some decisions need to be taken fairly soon, within two weeks.
Thanks all of you guys,
I NEED ADVISES AND I NEED IT QUICKLY.
