this thread is hilarious man. I dont believe that HLS would rather put up with all the calls from applicants than just send out emails... I am not sure if I will have the strength to make the call though. I am afraid I might have a heart attack - no matter what the answer is ;-)!!!

Maybe for ordinary people. We LLM-guys can push our limit a little further ;)
Let's say 150 = heart attack; 170 = certain death - even for HLS applicants :)

Yale Law School Admissions decisions will be made "somewhere around the 15th". In case you're accepted (you'd be a genius or a very very hard worker or just very lucky for sure!), they'd give you a phone call. If not, they'll send you an email and a regular mail.
Columbia sends emails and regular mails, too. The decision will also containt the financial aid decision.
NYU told me they do not send emails (again, very surprising!), but regular mails (UPS?), and that you'll be informed of financial aid/scholarship meanwhile (they give you a code or something).
I could not reach SLS, Berkeley nor Chicago yet.
I only received one decision (admitted to Penn) for the moment.
Since no decisions will probably be made during the next 4 to 5 days in my case, I got a cool 50% on the "Chang scale". Juuuuuust chilling... :-)
BTW, I'm from western Europe (got no Asian origins, for those who were asking). Graduated from top law school (in my country), top business school, good exp, publications, moot court, graduated first my last year of law school BUT!!! weak point : got also bad grades, so my GPA is medium. My pronostic: Penn & NYU. Perhaps Columbia. Top 3 will be a huge huge (but so good) surprise, because I know that even if exp and extra curricular are important things, GPA and distinctions are still the most important thing in your application. You can't get in YLS with a 3.6 or 3.7 or less. Well, it is my opinion, at least.
I wish you all a very relaxing week-end !!! :-)
See you next week to make the scale explose,
Chang

I fished out the "magic mail" from the annals of LLM Guide; thats the text (I am just quoting wht I found I tk no liability:) -
"Dear LLM Applicants:
An email was sent out to you on February 22, 2006 stating that decisions
were going to be made by the 17th of March, 2006. This information is no
longer accurate. We are still in the process of reviewing applications
and decisions will not be made until the last week of March. We
appreciate your patience and understanding.
Decision letters will be sent to you the week of March 27th. You may call
our office for decision results beginning on March 29th.
With thanks,
Graduate Program"
Now Chang though I would like to agree with the magic mail hypothesis, I can't -- if this mail caused confusion and resulted in calls to HLS in a panic, I'd say HLS shouldnt send such mails... But not letting ppl know of their admission in time and putting them through hell is really quite silly (especially if they are sending stuff via ordinary mail - i tell u it'll tk a decade for it arrive in my part of the world)... CLS was really great in this regard... super efficient
PS: Chang -- did the lady happen to mention if we call after march 21 will we be told if are in/out or only the fact that a dec has/ has not been md. thanx:)

That was syncronized !!!
Please note that last year was particular, because Jeanne Tai was ill.
If you call HLS the 21st or later, you'll be told if you're in or out.
Please excuse my poor english when I wrote "regular mail" : I asked to several admissions offices if decisions will be sent by email and/or by regular mail. I was sometimes answered that no email will be sent. But according to several posts on this site, NYU sends its decisions via UPS (or FedEx maybe, don't remember exactly). So it won't probably take decades in that case.

Dear nervous people! It's time to relax and let the water flow...It's all like in the first Harry Potter movie. When the ivy (feel the analogy) squezeed Harry, and the more he tried to get out the more he was suffocating, the only way to escape was to relax. That's what he did. That's where he is now - six written books about his adventures! He's alright now.
That's what we should do. To escape the worst in the situation that is not under our control just let go.
I've been going to yoga classes lately...I thought it's only for pensioners at first...there are too many old people who snore when I try to relax...But i've learned some useful things from it. When the class is slmost over, we move into a siting position, close our eyes and wish ourselves all the best. We say, may we be happy, may we be free from suffering, may we have ease of wellbeing...
Guys it really helps!
Go for it!
or have a beer and watch a movie instead...
sorry for this annoying post. I just feel sort of philosophic

Busingye, thats hilarious!!
By the way, Harry Potter is supposed to die in the upcoming book, isnt he? Heart attack - he probably called HLS as well.
Oh well, no need to freak out since we still have two weeks+mailing period to go.

Here is one more tip, in case you guys want to prepare for the BIG heart attack in two weeks:
Install a filter that directs all emails containing "edu" or "law" in the email address of the sender into a folder that you can name whatever. And everytime you open your email account and see that you have mail in that folder, you will feel that your heart beats really fast and your hands get really sweaty and that you are almost about to have a tiny little heart attack. And then you open the folder and realize, it was just the stupid automated email from NYU alerting you about how the system will be down for tomorrow or letting you know about the change in time due to daylight saving!
Cheers.

Applause, Busingye. )
I wonder if admissions committee officials read posts like this.
I suppose they must have a lot of fun every year with those who are waiting. All those theories, guesses... tears, cries, screams... calls, emails, congrats, yoga, UPS and FEDEX.... and at the end posts like this.
Anyway, it helps to calm down.
Keep on guys, we'll make it, and then help those who couldn't.
Providing chang's scale won't reach 150... )

Hi ya, am from Uganda(East Africa), though am currently in the UK doing (surprise, surprise) an LLM! Am into Public International Law, and i figure an academic experience in the most important PIL actor today wouldnt hurt. Plus, i dont think am ready for a PhD yet so its either working for a year or two, or doing another LLM. But then again, i really want to take a break off books, which wud explain the single application, to let fate decide:)

This thread is good fun and relaxing. Good on u guys to keep it going... I had created a separate e-mail a/c for the admissions process... I think I wont check it that often now and instead look out for the postman on and after the 21st... Fingers crossed everyone:)

Berkeley: decisions will be made between March 15th and 30th. They will send emails and postmails. Financial decisions will be made later.
Most of Stanford decisions (LLM & SPILS) will be made by April 1st. What does it concretly mean? I don't know. They just try to reach you by any means : phone calls, emails and mails. Financial decisions will be made later.
I was not able to reach Chicago Law School (LLM) nor Kabul Law School.
Hope this helps,
