I know this subject has been addressed on other threads, but I wanted to have one thread devoted only to this. Whatever anyone can share about neighborhoods close to NYU would be great. I am from Boston and can easily identify what are the desirable neighborhoods in the Boston area, but I know absolutely nothing about New York City. I heard from a couple of New Yorkers that it might actually make sense to live in Brooklyn. That seems awfully far away. I don't want to have more than a 30 minute commute. If you are from New York and can share information to those who are completely naïve about the city, please do.
